The Best Of Garnier (Brand Review)

I’m going to be honest here, I was never a massive lover of Garnier. I don’t really have a reason why, it just wasn’t a brand that got me excited, or that really stood out for me. Having said that, it IS a brand that has been incredibly present since I have been living in France. From skin care products, to hair care and styling, Garnier takes up most of the shelving in the beauty aisles next to Nivea, Diadermine and its parent company; L’Oreal. It has become my no.1, go-to, drugstore beauty brand. And even if you don’t care too much for Garnier just yet, there are some their products that everyone should have in their lives right now!

Favorite Garnier Products

Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream (for oily skin)

A BB cream is an all-in-one product that offers both skincare and immediate coverage for concealing imperfections. Garnier’s Skin Perfector BB Cream delivers a matte, flawless finish, which also hydrates and protects the skin. It has five goals; to control shine, minimize pores, even skin tones, hydrate and protect.

What I like so much about it: The biggest quality is its coverage; thin enough not to cake the face, yet thick enough to cover any blemishes. For those who never leave the house without a layer of foundation on, you can easily convert to using this BB cream during the day instead. Given the great coverage, it lasts just as long as any foundation would, if not longer.

Other top qualities: targeting an oily skin type, the Miracle Skin Perfector does exactly what it says on the package; mattifying and minimizing pores. It gives a shine-free finish, and blends easily with skin tones. Don’t have an oily skin type? No problem; Garnier also offers the BB cream for normal skin types and even acne-prone skin.

Any downsides? Not that I have found! Although, I would be interested to see the results when applied with a beauty blender. I currently use a flat, kabuki brush to apply the BB Cream as it is fast, and gives a perfectly smooth result.

1 reason why it is better than other BB creams: its ability to replace foundation (particularly during the day,) giving enough coverage to the skin with quite simply, amazing results.

All-in-1 Mattifying Micellar Water

Micellar water is a type of cleansing water that contains tiny, round balls (Micelles) which are attracted to oil and dirt on the skin, and so draw out these impurities. As this is the case, a Micellar water can be used as a makeup remover, facial wash and moisturizer all in one. The additional attribute of Garnier’s Micellar water is that it targets specific skin type. As this particular one I have chosen is for oily skin, the water is also mattifying, leaving the skin shine-free.

What I like so much about it: the sheer ease and lack of effort it takes to take off makeup. When you’re tired and ready for bed, there is nothing worse than having to spend 10 to 15 minutes taking off your makeup and washing your face. I was incredibly shocked when I recently tried Garnier’s 2-in-1 Make up remover; how I could take off a face full of makeup (including mascara) in less than 30 seconds! How awesome is that?! But whilst I love this product, rinsing the face afterwards is still required. That’s when I fell in love with the Micellar water. It’s just as easy to take make up off, but without having to wash afterwards AND whilst mattifying the skin too.

Other top qualities: apart from taking makeup off quickly, using Garnier’s Micellar water means no harsh rubbing or leaving chemicals behind on the skin. It also doesn’t leave the skin with a greasy feel after using it.

Any downsides? Although this Micellar water is mattifying and leaves the skin grease free, I do wake up the next morning with a little grease around my T-zone. The solution to this however is imperatively using a night cream, oil, or moisturizer after this product.

1 reason why Garnier is better than other makeup removers: it does the job quicker, easier and without having to wash the face after.

Volcano Face Mask

This new generation of face mask specifically targets minimizing pores, for smoother and unclogged skin. The combination of volcanic rock and clay results in a self-heating mask, that should be left on the skin for 3-5 minutes.

What I like so much about it: how it leaves the skin so silky smooth afterwards! It thoroughly cleans the pores, leaving your skin feeling (and looking) so clean.

Other top qualities: It smells great, and a little product goes a long way. Plus, the gentle warming affect isn’t too over-powering, in fact it is very subtle.

Any downsides: I haven’t seen this product in a tube or a bottle yet, so given its highly pigmented color, it can be very messy!

1 reason why Garnier’s volcano face mask is better than other face masks: its immediate results of having clean, smooth skin.

So why Garnier?

Aside from the reasons already stated concerning the products I have mentioned, I have never really been disappointed with any of Garnier’s products. There seems to be a kind of ‘wow factor,’ instant results, that often lack when it comes to other brands. That combined with its affordable pricing, ease of use and quality, makes it now my no.1 drugstore brand.
